Reaves Named Conference USA Special Teams Player of the Week

IRVING, Tx. ââ'¬" Marshall kick returner Deandre Reaves was named Conference USA Special Teams Player of the Week Monday by the league office.

Reaves continued his outstanding special teams play in Friday's 49-28 loss to WKU, returning a kickoff 97 yards for touchdown in the first half to get the Thundering Herd on the scoreboard. His 221 kick return yards against the Hilltoppers established a new school single-game record. Reaves currently ranks fifth in the FBS in kickoff return yard average at 30.5. Heading into the Herd's bowl game, he ranks seventh in kick return yardage in C-USA history (2,525), and his 27.7-yard career average is No. 3. The Sterling, Va. native has two kickoff returns and one punt return for a touchdown on the season.

He also caught a pair of passes for 45 yards from his slot receiver position in Friday's affair.

It was the second time Reaves has been given the honor after doing so two weeks ago, following a 69-yard punt return for touchdown against FIU in a 52-0 Marshall victory on Nov. 14.
