@Herd_Tennis Finishes Day Two at CofC Classic

CHARLESTON, S.C. ââ'¬" Marshall tennis finished day two of the College of Charleston Classic on Saturday, with four singles victories over the host school.
Competing for the Herd on Saturday was Marija Bogicevic (Belgrade, Serbia), Jackie Carr (Rogers, Ark.), Anne Gulsrud (Stavanger, Norway), Rachael Morales (Columbus, Ohio), Maddie Silver (East Grand Rapids, Mich.) and Derya Turhan (Bad Salzuflen, Germany).
"Excellent day for Derya and Anne today as they remain undefeated on the weekend," Herd coach John Mercer said. "Marija won an excellent match at the two position. She played a very strong third set and I felt her hard work off the court made a big difference and Jackie played a very solid match from beginning to end."
After being shutout in doubles against Winthrop, Marshall came out strong against College of Charleston in singles play. Turhan, Carr and Gulsrud all won their matches in straight sets, while Bogicevic defeated her opponent in three sets. Carr turned in the best performance by the Herd, as she won 6-2, and then had a clean sweep of her opponent in the final set, 6-0.
