SCOUTING THE MEAN GREEN

The league's regular-season champion North Texas (18-3-1, 8-1-1) advanced to its third consecutive C-USA title match with a 1-0 shutout of No. 5 Middle Tennessee on Friday evening. C-USA Co-Offensive Player of the Year Rachel Holden scored her team-leading 12th goal of the season in the 27th minute. Goalkeeper Jackie Kerestine recorded her 14th individual blank sheet, tying her own school record.

North Texas has played in a conference tournament final for the last four years, and is 0-2 in the C-USA Championship match. In 2012, North Texas won the Sun Belt regular season title, the conference tournament championship and advanced to the NCAA Tournament. Altogether, North Texas is playing in its 11th conference final in its program history.

Marshall handed the Mean Green its only tie this season, playing to a scoreless draw on the opening night of C-USA play at Veterans Memorial Soccer Complex in Huntington, W.Va. (Sept. 25, 2015). All-time, the Herd is 0-1-1 against North Texas. Last season, the Mean Green knocked the Herd out of the first round of the league tournament with a 2-0 result (Nov. 5, 2014).
