CHARLESTON, S.C. - Marshall tennis finished the final day of competition at the College of Charleston Classic on Sunday, as the Herd faced off against the Princeton Tigers in singles.

Junior Derya Turhan (Bad Salzuflen, Germany) completed her clean sweep of the weekend with a win in the top flight against Muliawan. Turhan went undefeated in the tournament in singles, as she was named the flight No. 1 champion. Following in Turhan's footsteps was Anne Gulsrud (Stavanger, Norway), who also won her flight. Gulsrud was undefeated entering Sunday, but did lose in straight sets in the sixth flight match.

Freshman Jackie Carr (Rogers, Ark.) finished strong for the Herd with a three-set thrilling win over Hahn. Carr would go on to drop the first set, but mounted a comeback in the second set to win 6-4. In the tie-breaking set, the freshman went on to win 10-5.

"I was really excited for Derya [Turhan] and Jackie [Carr], as they fought hard through their matches against a very good team," Herd coach John Mercer said. "I thought it was a great tournament to end the fall season. We are all looking forward to starting the dual match season in January."

Facing setbacks for the Herd was Marija Bogicevic (Belgrade, Serbia), Rachael Morales (Columbus, Ohio) and Maddie Silver (East Grand Rapids, Mich.).
