Dan D'Antoni, head coach
On Jon Elmore:
"I felt it was very important that he got to play this game. It'll take him, like the others, a few games before he gets into a rhythm. It'll be nothing but improved play for him."
On offense:
"It's fun to play and it is fun to watch. First few games we didn't have any rhythm; we missed our 3-point shots. It depends on 3-point shots and getting layups. It is hard to guard when we knock down the 3-point shots."
On Thursday's game against West Virginia:
"This game is for the state. We need to respect them, but then we want to compete. This game is what makes the next 'Jerry West's, 'Hal Greer's, 'Rob Thorn's, and 'Mike D'Antoni's. It is the one that excites the kids in this state. Win or lose, there are no losers in this game. We go play it, play it hard, compete, and then we are all West Virginians."
Jon Elmore, sophomore guard
On getting to play in a Marshall uniform for the first time:
"It was great. It started off with a little jitters, but I slowly got into the game and had some great teammates out there tonight. It really helped me."
Ryan Taylor, junior forward
On the upcoming game against WVU:
"In-state rival, big game, ranked opponent. We're coming off of three straight. It doesn't get any more exciting than that. The whole state will be watching. Televised game; nationally televised game. We're all ready. I think we're playing good basketball and everyone is ready to play in Charleston."
On his feelings of tonight's game:
"I was just happy to be out there; I was happy to have Jon [Elmore] out there. A lot of teams and a lot of coaches say 'go out there and play angry,' but I enjoy doing what I do. We're just playing basketball so I always try to smile when I'm out there."
On getting to the rim during the game:
"It was kind of easy tonight. I'm not saying they [NCCU] weren't trying to play defense or anything, but I got a lot of layups."
Austin Loop, junior guard
On picking up where he left off from the EKU game on Saturday:
"It was great, especially what I was talking about the other night. Had such a late start; it was just nice to pick up where I left off. It was just fun basketball with everyone playing together, getting three in a row, getting Jon [Elmore] back. I think this is the best thing for us coming into WVU [on Thursday]."
James Kelly, senior forward
On adding Jon Elmore into the starting lineup:
"It was fun for the most part, to have a point guard that really likes to throw lobs and try to get you in the post. So I was happy to have him back."
On staying focused on getting rebounds:
"I'm kind of just like the 'garbage man.' When they miss I just try to get the board, put it back in, and block shots."
