HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Marshall men's basketball (3-7) will take on the Wyoming Cowboys (7-4) as part of the Global Sports Classic at Cox Pavilion in Las Vegas on Monday, Dec. 21, at 10:30 p.m. ET. The Thundering Herd will face either Houston or Grand Canyon on Tuesday, Dec. 22, to complete the event.

HAVE YOU HERD?
Junior forward Ryan Taylor (Indianapolis) eclipsed the 1,000-point mark for his career in an 86-68 loss for Marshall against No. 20 West Virginia on Thursday at the Capital Classic at the Charleston Civic Center. The loss snapped a three-game win streak for the Thundering Herd. Taylor was named Marshall's Most Valuable Player with 15 points on 2-of-7 shooting from the floor and 11-of-14 from the line. He had team highs of six rebounds and three assists in 24 minutes played.

GLOBAL SPORTS CLASSIC
Marshall won each of its two campus-site games as part of the 2015 Global Sports Classic, defeating Eastern Illinois (Dec. 9) and N.C. Central (Dec. 12).

RT REACHES 1K
At the 7:32 mark in the second half against No. 20 West Virginia (Dec. 17), junior forward Ryan Taylor (Indianapolis) hit two free throws to record his 1,000th career point. He is the 50th player in school history to hit four digits, which ranks No. 16 among Division I men's basketball programs. His career total stands at 1,008 points over 73 games.

SCOUTING THE COWBOYS
Defending Mountain West Tournament champion Wyoming (7-4) enters the matchup on a two-game win streak, winning on the road at New Mexico State (Dec. 13) and downing Omaha at home (Dec. 19). Senior guard Josh Adams averages 25.2 points per game this season for first in the MW and fourth in the NCAA. He had 31 against Omaha, marking his third game this year with 30 or more points.

The Cowboys lead the series with the Herd, 2-1, with each school winning on their respective home courts. The teams have not met since a 101-89 win for Wyoming in Laramie on Dec. 21, 1992.

SCOUTING THE COUGARS
Eight of Houston's (8-1) nine games have been at home, with its lone loss coming at Rhode Island on Dec. 8 (67-57). The Cougars are riding a three-game win streak, with victories over LSU (Dec. 13), North Carolina Central (Dec. 16) and Eastern Illinois (Dec. 19). Rob Gray, Jr., is the team's top scorer (18.9/game) and Damyean Dotson leads the squad with 7.3 rebounds per game.

Marshall and UH last met as members of Conference USA back on March 3, 2013, in a 103-76 win for the Cougars in Houston. The teams are 1-1 when playing at a neutral site.

SCOUTING THE LOPES
Last time out, Grand Canyon (9-2) earned a big road win at San Diego State, 52-45 (Dec. 18). The Lopes' only losses have come at Louisville (Dec. 5) and in overtime against Omaha (Dec. 13). Three players average double-figure scoring in Joshua Braun (14.9/game), Dominic Magee (14.3) and Grandy Glaze (13.3).

Tuesday would be the first meeting between Marshall and Grand Canyon.
