The two teams recently played in the 2014 C-USA tournament, with Marshall defeating ECU 8-7 (8 innings) to advance to the Championship for a third consecutive season.
TOWSON
Towson went undefeated at Campbell's tournament in North Carolina last weekend, including defeating the hosts at home 10-9. The team also beat Youngstown State 9-2 and St. John's 7-4. The Tigers finished last season 29-25. The team lost to James Madison University 4-0 in the C AA Championship game.
BUCKNELL
Bucknell is 4-0 this season after coming off a sweep at an Invitational it Cleveland State. The Bison went 23-26 in the 2014 season and advanced all the way to the Patriot League Championship game, before losing to Boston University.
ETSU
ETSU finds itself 0-4 on the season after also playing in the Hampton Inn Invitational at Campbell. The Buccaneers lost to the hosts twice and also dropped games against Youngstown State and Presbyterian. In 2014, the team went 20-32, losing four straight games to end the season.
STANTON'S STATEMENTS
Marshall coach Shonda Stanton on Weekend
"I appreciate East Carolina making adjustments to give us a chance to play tomorrow. It's been a great rivalry, with them having been in C-USA. They're a quality ball club. The picked up a big win over South Carolina last weekend, so it's a great way for us to open up the tournament."
"We're facing two teams in Bucknell and Towson that are undefeated as well. Then ETSU has a former player of ours, so going into this weekend, there's a lot to be excited about playing ball."
