The Herd falls to 6-1, after getting its best start since the 2010 season, which started 7-0.
SCHEDULE NOTE
Marshall's first game for Saturday has been moved from 11 a.m. to 9 a.m. The second game against ETSU will remain the same.
Saturday, February 14, 2015
9 a.m. - Marshall vs. Bucknell
2 p.m. - Marshall vs. East Tennessee State
AGAINST THE TIGERS
Marshall got on the board first in the top of the first, when junior Shaelynn Braxton (Woodbridge, Va.) sent a high hit into the gap in center field. The base hit brought home sophomore Morgan Zerkle (Milton, W.Va.) home to score easily to make the score 1-0 to the Herd.
Sophomore pitcher Jordan Dixon started off strong, striking out seven of her first eight batters faced. She finished the game with 11 strikeouts after throwing a complete nine innings last night against ECU in the 5-4 win.
However, Towson was able to charge in the fifth after a Holiday Cahill home run. Two more runs would come across for Towson to go ahead for the 3-1 victory.
