HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Marshall tennis (5-2) remained undefeated at home after downing No. 71 Minnesota (4-3) 4-3 Sunday at the Huntington Tennis Club in Barboursville, W. Va.

Intense doubles action set the tempo for the day.

Senior Kai Broomfield (Toronto, Canada) and sophomore Marija Bogicevic (Belgrade, Serbia) dropped the first match in a close 8-6 contest at the No. 2 spot.

The doubles point was decided in two tiebreakers on courts 1 and 3.

Freshman Maddie Silver (Grand Rapids, Mich.) and sophomore Rachael Morales (Reynoldsburg, Ohio) pulled out a 8-7(3) win at the No. 3 spot.

Coming back from a 3-7 deficit and fighting off five match points, sophomore duo Derya Turhan (Bad Salzuflen, Germany) and Anna Pomyatinskaya (Sochi, Russia) secured the doubles point with a 8-7(6) win at the No. 1 spot.

The fighting mentality carried over into singles play.

Turhan secured the first singles match on court 1 with a straight set win (6-4, 6-4) over the Gophers No. 1 player Tereza Brichacova (Prague, Czech Republic).

Pomyatinskaya finished next, prevailing in three sets (6-3, 5-7, 6-2) at the No. 3 spot.

The win over the Gophers was clinched when Silver squeaked out a 6-3 7-6(6) win at the No. 2 spot.
