HUNTINGTON, W.Va. --
Middle Tennessee's Brea Edwards and Olivia Jones each tallied double-doubles as the visitors exploded for a 74-48 wire-to-wire win over Marshall Thursday afternoon in the Cam Henderson Center.

The Blue Raiders improved to 18-6 with the win and a league-leading mark of 12-2 in Conference USA, while Marshall dropped its third straight contest to fall to 14-10 and 6-7 in the league.

Edwards came off the bench to score 23 points on an eye-popping 7-for-8 effort from 3-point range to go with her 10 rebounds (all defensive). Jones, Conference USA's leading scorer at just over 20 points per game, had 22 points, 12 caroms and three steals.

Ty Petty, who picked up three fouls in the game's first four minutes, seven seconds, chipped in 10 points and five assists. Cheyenne Parker, who came into the game averaging 19.4 points and 11.2 rebounds, finished with seven points and 10 rebounds in just 14 minutes.

Marshall got 14 points from Leah Scott, right on her average for the season. Chukwuka Ezeigbo narrowly missed her 13th double-double with nine points and nine rebounds. AJ Johnson and Aja Sorrells tallied three steals apiece.

The Blue Raiders made 42.9% of its field goals in the first half (12-for-28), while Marshall made just 20% (5-for-25). The Herd did improve that mark in the second half, hitting 45.5 percent (10-for-22).

At game's end, MT held a 51-29 rebounding edge, a 23-5 advantage in second chance points and a 30-6 edge on bench points, thanks in large part to Edwards' efforts.

Marshall's McKenzie Akers made her return Thursday, after missing the last two and a half games with a concussion, and made two of the team's three 3-pointers.

The game was pushed back two hours to a 1 p.m. start due to inclement weather in the area.

Marshall will be back in action Saturday when it hosts UAB at 1 p.m. The Blazers were scheduled to face Western Kentucky in Bowling Green, Ky. Thursday evening.
