HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - After a week off from competitive play, Marshall tennis (1-2) will welcome two teams from the Bluegrass State to the Huntington Tennis Club in Barboursville, W. Va., for a doubleheader Saturday, Feb. 7.

The Herd will first take on Morehead State (1-3) at 11 a.m. (EST), followed by Eastern Kentucky (0-3) at 5 p.m. (EST).

Marshall was scheduled to visit Morehead State in January, but inclement weather forced a cancelation.

HAVE YOU HERD?

Last season the Herd was able to capture wins against both squads with little trouble, beating Morehead and EKU by 5-2 scores.

This weekend, the Herd looks to regain a winning record after a tough visit to Los Angeles for the ITA Kick-Off Weekend. Marshall dropped matches to No. 1 UCLA and No. 74 UC-Irvine.

Sophomore Anna Pomyatinskaya (Sochi, Russia) is coming off a successful match against UC-Irvine, taking a 6-2, 7-5 victory at No. 4 singles and a doubles win with partner Derya Turhan (Bad Salzuflen, Germany).

SCOUTING THE EAGLES

The Eagles began the spring with three losses, the most recent being a 7-0 defeat by Xavier. The team secured its first win against Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) 4-2 on Tuesday.

Redshirt sophomore Andrea LeBlanc leads Morehead, with a 4-1 record at No.1 singles.

SCOUTING THE COLONELS

The Colonels also have dropped their first three matches of the spring season, the most recent loss 5-2 to Chattanooga. Before arriving in Huntington, the Colonels will face Lincoln Memorial University on Friday.

Senior Amandine Faouzi boasts an overall singles mark of 10-2, with a 7-2 tournament record and remaining undefeated in dual match play.

UP NEXT

The Herd will remain at home, facing No. 64 Louisville on Friday, Feb. 13 at 6 p.m. and concluding the weekend against No. 72 Minnesota on Sunday, Feb. 15, at 11 a.m.
