Helly Reaches Top 5 at Kiawah Island Classic

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. - Senior Sarah Helly (Enniscrone, Ireland) shot a career-low 2-under-par 70 to move into fifth place after the second round at the Edwin Watts / Kiawah Island Spring Classic on Monday at Osprey Point.
Helly improved her score by five strokes on the second day, moving up from 21st to a tie for fifth with two other golfers. She posted the tournament's best average on par-5 scoring (3-under 4.67), and shot six birdies. Her two-day total of 1-over 145 puts her four strokes out of first place.
Fellow senior Korakot Simsiriwong (Narathiwat, Thailand) also showed improvement on the second day, bettering her score by 12 strokes with a 1-under 71. She now totals 10-over 154 for 44th.
After posting a team score of 304 in the second round, Marshall now totals 46-over 622 for 14th place out of 40 teams. The team will compete as part of the top 20 in the championship round tomorrow.
ON THE LEADERBOARD
Tournament host College of Charleston moved up from third place into first after shooting 288 on the second day, and holds a 10-stroke advantage on the leaderboard (12-over 588). Laura Fuenfstueck of the host squad leads the individual field by one stroke (3-under 141).
