@HerdSB to Host Double Header Tuesday

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -- The Marshall softball team (21-10, 4-5) will return to home action this Tuesday at 2 p.m. for a double header against Wright State (7-21). The Thundering Herd is coming off a sweep at Furman on Saturday and Sunday.
500 CAREER WINS FOR STANTON
A major milestone was achieved by Thundering Herd Head coach Shonda Stanton this weekend. The three game sweep of Furman gave Stanton 501 career wins.
The two wins on Saturday gave Stanton 500 for her coaching career. Stanton has 474 wins at Marshall, but coached at IUPUI for one season before Marshall, earning 27 wins with the Jaguars.
DEALING DIXON SWEEPS THE PALADINS
Sophomore pitcher Jordan Dixon (Edmond, Okla.), had a very impressive weekend against Furman. She earned all three wins in the series sweep and pitched every inning of action. Dixon threw a combined 26 strikeouts, including 11 in the first game. The sophomore allowed only one hit in the first game of the series. In the second game, Dixon did not allow a hit for 5.2 innings. She threw eight strikeouts in game two and seven in game three. Dixon only allowed one earned run total and only gave up one walk against the Paladins.
Dixon also improved to 20 wins this season, reaching her total from last season with 22 regular season games remaining.
SCOUTING THE RAIDERS
Wright State is 7-21 this season (1-8 away). The Raiders opened the season with 13 straight losses, before getting a win against Iona on March 7th.
Libby Pfeffer leads the Raiders with a .349 average and five home runs. She also leads the team with 30 hits. Montana Wear leads the team in pitching with a 6-12 record. She has allowed 135 hits and 103 runs this season, but has 59 strikeouts compared to 39 walks.  Â
Lynn Curylo is in her fifth season at Wright State as head coach. Wright State also has a 3-2 record in the Horizon League this season.
