BEALLSVILLE, Md. -- Led by senior Korakot Simsiriwong (Narathiwat, Thailand), Marshall women's golf earned its best finish since 2011 by taking runner-up honors at the Hoya Invitational at Four Streams on Tuesday.

The Herd carded a three-round total of 85-over-par 949 for second, marking its best team performance since it championed the Wendy's Invitational in Charleston, S.C., on Oct. 18, 2011.

Simsiriwong combined three rounds of 5-over 77 for a total of 15-over 231, just one stroke out of first place and finishing fourth behind three top finishers. Anna Kim of St. John's took the individual victory after a three-hole playoff.

Behind Simsiriwong was classmate Sarah Helly (Enniscrone, Ireland), who finished fifth at 17-over 233. Herd newcomer Pimrawee Huang (Nakornpatom, Thailand) also landed in the top 10, tying for seventh at 19-over 235.

ON THE LEADERBOARD
While host Georgetown took team honors (77-over 941), the Hoyas' Jacquelyn Eleey, Long Island's Cristina Felip and St. John's' Anna Kim all finished at 14-over 230 and advanced to a three-hole playoff where Kim came out with the victory.

PRATS' POINTS
Quotes by Coach Tiffany Prats:

On the team's best finish since 2011:
"To have three girls in the top 10: most weeks I would say we probably won the event. This week Georgetown outplayed us in the bottom part of our lineup but I can't complain with the improvements these girls are making. We had our best finish since 2011, so that says a lot about the direction of our program."

On the seniors:
"Gone [Simsiriwong] and Sarah [Helly] really stepped up and led our team this week. They both showed a lot of maturity with how they didn't let bad breaks and missed putts affect them. They kept themselves in contention down the stretch and that is all I can ask for as a coach. These two girls are such a big part of our lineup and I can't say how proud I am of both of them. We have two regular-season events left before conference and I hope we can step up as a team and send our seniors out on a high note."

On Huang:
"Ning [Huang] played in just her third tournament and did an outstanding job bouncing back after a tough first round, closing with back-to-back 76's. She is such a fighter on the golf course and as a coach that is what I want to see from my players."
