Marshall-Charlotte Postgame Quotes

Marshall Coach Matt Daniel
On making the C-USA Tournament:
Where we were picked (in the preseason), this was supposed to be our last day of basketball, and it isn't. I think we're a team that has earned postseason play, especially when you look at the body of work and the injury we had with Norrisha Victrum. What level of postseason play, I think depends on how we go play in the conference tournament. That's your hope anyway.
On the team's three seniors:
My hat's off to these seniors on Senior Saturday, with the fact that their season is not over. They've earned the right to play on, given where we were picked in the conference race.
On Charlotte's comeback:
They're playing 12. They played nine players, seven of them with significant minutes. We played six with significant minutes. That matters.
On Marshall:
Now we start playing better in the first half when we're used to getting a slow start, then we play better in the second half. It's flipped on us a little bit. We have to be a little bit better coming out of the locker room and being prepared. And the fight has to be the same. I don't think it was exactly the same; I think that some of that comes with fatigue a little bit, mentally and physically."
Marshall Forward Aja Sorrells
On looking past the loss and onto Birmingham:
We just have to play. We're used to this, we've been here last year, it's nothing different. We just have to go play.
Marshall Forward Leah Scott
On the second half:
We just have to play harder. We got the first half down, and now we just have to have the second half down the way we used to finish it. We just have to put it together really.
On how to close out games:
Just sticking with the gameplan, executing plays, getting back on defense; just every little thing.
