@HerdSB Drops Final Game o Series to FIU

MIAMI - The Marshall Thundering Herd softball team (15-6, 2-1) lost 9-1 to the FIU Panthers on Sunday in five innings to wrap up its opening series in Conference USA Sunday. The Herd won the series 2-1 after 13-5 and 13-3 wins on Saturday.
AGAINST THE PANTHERS
Marshall junior Shaelynn Braxton drove in the first run of the afternoon, with a double that brought home sophomore Morgan Zerkle to make the score 1-0 Herd.
From there, though, FIU would score seven consecutive runs, including four in the first and two in the fourth. Panthers first baseman Stephanie Texeira put the team up 7-1 in the fourth with an RBI double and also added an RBI in the first inning. A three-run home run by Gabby Stallone also helped to make the difference for FIU.
Marshall's Elicia D'Orazio finished the day 2-2.

Marshall will host its home opening series against Western Kentucky on Friday and Saturday, March 13-14. Friday's game will be at 2:00 p.m. and Saturday's double-header will start at 12 and 2 p.m.
