Holt Paces Herd on Day 1 at MSU Invitational

MURRAY, Ky. -- Freshman Leigha Holt (Holly Springs, N.C.) posted a career-low 75 during the second round of the Murray State Invitational to lead the Marshall women's golf team at Miller Memorial Golf Course on Friday.
Holt combined a 6-over-par 78 on the first 18 holes with her 3-over 75 on the second to finish the first day tied for ninth overall at 9-over 153. She sits seven strokes behind the individual leader going into the final 18-hole round. Seniors Sarah Helly (Enniscrone, Ireland) and Korakot Simsiriwong (Narathiwat, Thailand) are five and six strokes behind Holt.
The Herd is tied for seventh with Belmont University at 56-over 632.
ON THE LEADERBOARD
Cincinnati tops the pack at 30-over 606, followed by Morehead State at 36-over 612. The Eagles' Anna Magnusson leads the individual field by two strokes at 2-over 146.
