@HerdSB to Host FAU This Weekend

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -- Marshall softball (28-10, 9-5 Conference USA) will host Florida Atlantic (28-14-1, 10-5 C-USA) this weekend at Dot Hicks Field in Huntington.
Saturday's double header will start at 1 p.m. and is Lil Sis Day. Sunday's series finale will start at 11 a.m. The Thundering Herd and Owls are second and third in the Conference USA East Division.

10 IN A ROW, 5 IN C-USAMarshall heads into the weekend with 10 wins in a row, its longest streak in 2015.

The streak started on March 28 after a double header win against Furman, which gave coach Shonda Stanton her 500th career victory. Marshall then won series against Wright State, North Texas and Middle Tennessee.Ă‚
The Herd has also won five games in a row in Conference USA, starting with the two game sweep of North Texas on April 3-4.Ă‚
BIG WEEKEND IN MURFREESBOROMarshall put up big numbers in the series sweep against Middle Tennessee last weekend. In all, Marshall totaled 29 runs on 38 hits. Twelve of those hits were extra-base hits, including three home runs. Marshall also had 12 batters walk.

Seven Herd batters hit for more than a .455 batting average as well.Ă‚
RPI UPDATEMarshall is No. 40 in this week's NCAA Division I RPI rating. That is the third highest ranking in Conference USA, behind only No. 29 Western Kentucky and this week's opponent, Florida Atlantic, which is No. 38.

SCOUTING THE OWLSFlorida Atlantic is at 28-14-1 (10-5 in C-USA). The Owls won 15 of its first 16 games, hosting 14 games at home to open the year. While the team is 23-7-1 at home, the Owls are having trouble finding success on the road (3-6 overall).
Ă‚ Emily Lochten is the team's primary provider offensively, with a .361 average, 39 runs scored and 29 RBI. Kylee Hanson leads the team in wins with a 12-3 record and 1.80 ERA. Joan Joyce is the only coach in the program's history. Marshall is 3-2 all-time against FAU.
