@HerdSB to Host Norse on Wednesday

 HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -- The Marshall softball team will host Northern Kentucky in a 2 p.m. Wednesday doubleheader at Dot Hicks Field.
Marshall is 29-11 (10-6 C-USA) and coming off a two-game split against Florida Atlantic. The Norse is 5-31 and has lost 11 straight games.
This twinbill was originally scheduled March 26, but was rescheduled due to weather.
ZERKLE AND DIXON CLOSE IN ON SEASON RECORDS
Marshall sophomore center fielder Morgan Zerkle is closing in on Marshall's single-season record for hits. Zerkle has 74 this season and needs just seven hits to tie the single-season record set by junior Kaelynn Greene last season. Zerkle is also at 42 stolen bases. She needs six to equal her single-season record of 48 last year.
 Marshall sophomore pitcher Jordan Dixon has 27 wins. She would need six in the remaining 10 games to tie the single season record that Andi Williamson set in 2015.
 RPI UPDATE
Marshall is No. 41 in this week's NCAA Division I RPI rating. That is the third highest ranking in Conference USA, behind No. 31 Western Kentucky and FAU, which is No. 36.
 STATISTICAL UPDATE
Marshall's .344 team batting average ranks No. 1 in Conference USA and No. 15 in Division I. Marshall also is still No. 1 in stolen bases per game, with 3.25 per contest. Here are a few NCAA categories that feature Marshall players.

SCOUTING THE NORSE
Northern Kentucky is 5-31 and 1-14 in the Atlantic Sun. The Norse has lost its last 11 games and 14 of its last 15. Kathy Stewart is in her 16th season as head coach of the Norse. Dani Devlin leads the team in average with a .402. She also leads the team with 35 hits and nine home runs. Ashlynn Roberts leads the Norse in wins with a 3-12 record. The combined ERA for NKU is 8.08 and the Norse have allowed almost 400 hits.
Last season, Marshall scored 17 runs against NKU in Game One of the doubleheader. Marshall won both games.
