HUNTINGTON, W.Va. ââ'¬" The 2015 Marshall University men's soccer team completed its first exhibition with a 1-0 victory Monday night, thanks to a goal by junior Daniel Jodah (Mississauga, Ontario).
AGAINST THE PANTHERS
Both teams elected to play three 30 minute periods instead of two 45 minute halves.
The first two periods went by without a goal for either side, with possession largely staying in the midfield.
Marshall was able to score after a back heel by junior forward/midfielder Michael Mayberry (Ames, Iowa) found the feet of Jodah, who slotted home the goal from the left side in the 68th minute.
From there, Marshall was able to hold its lead. The Thundering Herd outshot the Panthers 9-6.
THE GRAY AREA
Coach Bob Gray on the match:
"We played really hard and got the result out here tonight against a good High Point side. We were able to play a lot of guys as well and some of the freshmen really contributed. So, it's a good start for us. It's a confidence builder and we'll go from there."
