IRVING, Texas - Marshall women's soccer seniors Jenna Dubs (Green Lane, Pa.) and Lizzie Kish (Boyertown, Pa.) swept weekly Conference USA defensive honors as Defensive Player and Goalkeeper of the Week, respectively, the league announced Monday.
The award is the second weekly honor for each, Dubs on Sept. 14 this season and Kish on Sept. 22, 2013.
"We are thrilled that our team and players are continuing to get noticed from what they are doing on and off the field," Herd coach Kevin Long said. "This week's selection of Dubs and Kish certainly makes sense on our end. Kish has been very strong for us in net along with a back line that was pushed very hard by two strong conference opponents this weekend.
"They both anchor a defensive unit that is working very hard and providing a unified front each every time they take the field. Kish and Dubs bring a level of competition to everything they do and like our entire team, are putting everything they have into every minute of play."
Marshall (8-1-2, 1-0-1) extended its unbeaten streak to 10 matches with a 1-0 win over Rice on Sunday. The Herd's back line has not allowed a goal in 538 minutes, a streak dating back to Sept. 11.
Dubs, the Herd's primary corner kick specialist, extended her streak of consecutive starts to 69 - every match of her career. She played all 200 minutes this weekend against North Texas and Rice, the defending C-USA regular season and tournament champion, respectively. Marshall's defense faced 23 shots over the two matches and held both opponents scoreless.
Kish booked her fourth consecutive shutout with the Herd's defeat of Rice and broke a school record with the 18th blank sheet of her career. She has started every match in goal for the Herd dating to 2013, reaching a streak of 50 starts. This season, Kish holds the league's top marks of 0.29 goals against average and .919 save percentage.
The awards mark the fifth consecutive week with at least one C-USA accolade for Marshall. Other Herd winners on the offensive side this season include Sydney Arnold (Stafford, Va.) Aug. 31 and Sept. 21, and M/F Erin Simmons (Gahanna, Ohio) on Sept. 8. The six awards are the most in a Herd season.
Marshall was ranked No. 42 in the NCAA RPI on Monday, highest in Conference USA.
