HAVE YOU HERD?
Marshall won its third consecutive match with a 2-0 shutout of Indiana State on Sunday. Rookie Jayne Lawman (Winfield, W.Va.) scored her first career goal in the 22nd minute, assisted by junior Sydney Arnold (Stafford, Va.). Erin Simmons (Gahanna, Ohio) doubled the Herd's advantage in the 79th minute with help from a free kick by Jenna Dubs (Green Lane, Pa.). Senior goalkeeper Lizzie Kish (Boyertown, Pa.) recorded the 14th shutout of her career.
HOT START
At 3-1-0, the Herd is off to its best start since it kicked off the 2009 season with a program-record seven straight wins. Marshall's three-match win streak is its longest since a three-match stretch from Sept. 15 to 27, 2013.
CULICERTO NAMED 2015 SENIOR CLASS AWARD CANDIDATE
Senior midfielder Kelly Culicerto (Charlotte, N.C.) is one of 30 NCAA® women's soccer student-athletes selected as candidates for the 2015 Senior CLASS Award® in collegiate soccer. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition.
The candidate class will be narrowed to 10 finalists midway through the regular season, and those 10 names will be placed on the official ballot. Ballots will be distributed through a nationwide voting system to media, coaches and fans, who will select one male candidate and one female candidate who best exemplifies excellence in the four Cs of community, classroom, character and competition. The Senior CLASS Award winners will be announced during the 2015 NCAA Men's and Women's College Cup® championships in December.
