HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Marshall men's basketball (9-9, 5-0) will look to continue its historic start to Conference USA play when it visits Charlotte (4-13, 1-4) on Thursday at 7 p.m. ET at Halton Arena.

Senior forward James Kelly (Ann Arbor, Mich.) posted his third game of 30 points or more in a 94-90 road win for Marshall at Rice on Saturday night at Tudor Fieldhouse. The Herd is 5-0 in conference play for the first time since going 7-0 to start the 1996-97 Southern Conference season. Additionally, Marshall posted its school-record fifth consecutive conference game scoring 90 points or more. The last time the Herd scored 90 points or more in five consecutive games was during in the 1971-72 season, when Marshall won the first seven games of the year.

SCOUTING THE 49ERS

Charlotte (4-13, 1-4) is looking to snap a three-game skid when it hosts the Herd on Thursday. Five 49ers average double-figure scoring, led by Braxton Ogbueze (12.5 points per game). Joseph Uchebo leads C-USA with 4.06 offensive rebounds per game, and is second in overall rebounding (10.4 per game). The Niners have the lowest-ranked 3-point field goal percentage defense in the league (.435), but are ranked second in offensive rebounds per game (12.53).

The series is tied, 5-5, with each team having a slight advantage on the other's home court. Marshall is 3-2 when playing in Charlotte, but has not defeated the Niners since Feb. 15, 2014, at Halton Arena (59-56).
