Dan D'Antoni, head coach
Opening Statement
"I thought we did an outstanding job of limiting their chances. Stevie Browning did an excellent job defensively against (Giddy) Potts. Our ball movement was terrific I'm proud of our performance even though we did not shoot the ball well."
On the defensive performance
"I thought we played much better than the stats showed. We only forced 14 turnovers and had seven steals but forced the best 3-point shooting team in the conference to 3-of-16 from behind the arc."
On the team's scoring performance
"We have a lot of guys that can score the ball and it showed tonight with four players in double-figures. I thought we could have shot the ball better but overall it was a solid offensive performance."
Jon Elmore, sophomore guard
On taking the win and second place in the conference
"It was awesome, we had a great environment out there tonight and we came out and we didn't shoot that great the first half but we got some easy buckets, played defense and I think that was big for us on the defensive end, and we came out with a win, big game Saturday."
On Marshalls tempo of play
"I think so, we got a bunch of easy buckets, we got a couple big lob plays and that really gets the crowd into it, and gets us fired up so I think those lobs kind of triggered the energy and we stayed together as a team, stayed focused, shared the ball, I think we played pretty well overall tonight."
Stevie Browning, junior guard
On guarding Giddy Potts
"You know all week they have been prepping me for him and I came out and I took it personal, and I just had it in my mind to try and limit him as I can, I felt I did a pretty good job out there."
James Kelly, senior forward
On everybody contributing for the win
"It's just fun to get your teammates involved, and then you enjoy the win a lot like that, when everybody can score and get what they can get."
Ryan Taylor, junior forward
On the defense, held their opponents to a 38.5 overall FG percentage
"We knew it was going to be a team effort coming into it, we knew their bigs can kind of space the floor and Giddy Potts he a good shooter, and we just had to stay locked in all 40 minutes, the biggest stat line that stood out to me was they had 14 turnovers and three assists, so I think we just played well defensively, we came locked in tonight, we have to take pride, with me in Loop being on the team last year and taking that defeat down in Middle Tennessee, it was embarrassing so we had to come back up here and we knew we had our home crowd with us and we played strong and we played for forty minutes, and the defense was just good, we knew they would make their runs but we just had to with stand them and I think we did a great job."
On his leadership role
"Coach D'Antoni put me in the leadership role last year, and it went over to this year and I feel more confident and I feel better in that position, last year I was kind of, not under the fire, but I was young, I didn't really know how to take it and with this year it's much better, I think everybody goes with me, they just listen to me well, and they take criticism well too, so I just try to be behind them and keep their heads and keep them going every game."
On Terrance Thompson and his performance
"That's just him, he's an energy guy, he brings the energy in practice and in the game, Coach Cline our Assistant Coach always has him out there before practice I mean 20 minutes before we practice he's just out there working out and he's getting better at his game and as you can see it came in full effect tonight, he's probably got to get to the line a little more but other than that he knows what he needs to do to help this team and he does it well, he rebounded the ball, he played strong, he played physical, and he played good tonight and he just stays focus too, he stays locked in every practice."
