HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -- The Marshall women's basketball team (10-2 overall, 0-1 Conference USA) heads south this week to face Florida Atlantic (9-3, 1-0) Thursday at 7 p.m. and FIU (2-10, 0-1) Saturday at 2 p.m.
SCOUTING THE OWLS
FAU is 9-3 this season and 1-0 in the league after defeating FIU 87-82 at home on Sunday. Guard Ali Gorrell does it all for the Owls as she leads the team in scoring (14.5), rebounding (6.5), free throw shooting (.806), assists (51) and steals (21). Kat Wright's 26 3-pointers and nine blocked shots leads the team as well. Sasha Cedeno leads the way in field goal percentage (.438). The Owls lead Conference USA in 3-pointers per game (9.3) and are just behind the Thundering Herd in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.1 to 1.0) as the two teams lead the league in that category. FAU is last in the league in rebounding defense (43.5) and offensive rebounding percentage (.261).
SCOUTING THE PANTHERS
FAU is 2-10 this season and 0-1 in the league after this loss to FAU. Taylor Shade leads the team in scoring (15.0) and free throw percentage (.800), while Destini Feagin is the team's top rebounder (6.2). Kristian Hudson has the most assists (46), Janka Hegdus leads in blocks (9) and field goal percentage (.467) and Tianah Alvarado is tops with 31 steals and 22 3-pointers. The triumvirate of Hegedus (1st, 35.6), Hudson (5th, 34.5) and Shade (10th, 32.5) are all atop the league in minutes played.

Leah Scott 1,000 POINTS
Against WVU Tech Leah Scott needed 12 points to become the 19th player in Marshall History with 1,000 career points. She reached the milestone 2:23 into the 3rd quarter with a layup. It took Scott only 71 career games at Marshall to reach the 1,000 point plateau. Scott continues to climb the charts. She scored 13 at WKU to give her 1,035 to move her within two of Robin Vealey (1972-76) for 17th in Marshall's records.
RECORD BOOK WATCH
The Herd has a few players who are approaching career milestones and rising up the ranks of the program record book.
Senior Leah Scott has scored 202 points this season for a career total of 1,035. She is the 19th player in team history to score 1,000. Scott currently ranks 18th and needs 2 to pass Robin Vealey (1972-76). She also ranks 10th all-time with 245 free-throws made.
Senior Norrisha Victrum can be found in a few places in the record book. Victrum has 13 assists and needs 2 more to pass Kim Lewis (1984-1988) for 5th place. Victrum is currently 8th in 3-point field goals made (98). Victrum needs 193 points to become the 20th player to reach 1,000 for her career.
Junior Chelsey Romero has 20 blocks this season to give her a career total of 104. Romero is in 5th place all-time and is the 5th player in program history with 100 in a career.
