Dan D'Antoni, head coach
On scoring 48 points in the paint tonight
"We scored 48 points in the paint and did not post up once. We have a different way of scoring at the basket. We face the basket and attack it. Lobs are starting to become a big part of our game, which energizes our team and crowd, and it deflates the opponent."
On Maryland game preparing Marshall for conference play
"All the hustle, athletic team stats were in our favor. They made seven more threes than us, that's it. Other than that, it was even across the board with one of the country's best and most athletic teams. Once I think we felt like 'we're not going to be overpowered' in the Maryland game, it gave us confidence that we can be there right with the country's best."
On starting 2-0 in Conference USA play
"It's good that we held the first two games here. It's not time to celebrate it, but it is time to enjoy it. It's a long season. We need to come back Saturday against a team (FIU) that beat this team last season. They'll put another test to us, so we need all Herd fans to come out and be a part of this."
James Kelly, senior forward
On how it feels when things are going the team's way
"It's just fun to get the crowd into it, when they're roaring after a dunk, or a good layup and it keeps the momentum going for us."
Ryan Taylor, junior forward
On playing basketball during the winter break
"I said earlier that it's just fun coming out here and playing basketball, just doing what we do, especially when no school's in. Winter break, that's all you can focus on is basketball and it's fun coming in here and playing and practicing and going up against each other and other teams."
On the team's offensive play in the second half
"We were just getting good ball movement and I knew I could attack them off the dribble and that's what I was doing. We ran a few set plays, but other than that, we were just trying to get in transition. We shot well from the free throw line too, so just getting in transition, getting fouls, making our foul shots; that was pretty much it really."
Terrence Thompson, sophomore forward
On his role with the team and increased minutes in recent games
"My role on this team is to rebound and have high energy. With the past few games, I've been getting more minutes and with those minutes I've been contributing by rebounding and stepped up when Coach called my name and it worked out for the whole team."
Stevie Browning, junior guard
On the importance of lob passes to the team's offense
"Really, we get them a lot because of the way Coach Danny teaches us. You come off and if the big helps, you've got a chance to throw it at the rim. The crowd really feeds off that. It was a good crowd tonight and we hope to see a really big one Saturday."
On being 2-0 in Conference USA play after challenging schedule to start the season
"It was just like (Coach D'Antoni) said. We had to battle the storm at first. We knew we had a bunch of hard games on the road and we didn't start how we wanted, but I think we found our stride and we're hitting it. We've got to keep growing with this. It's like I said, keep the crowd in it and keep big crowds coming."
