COACH'S CORNER
Quotes from head coach John Mercer
On the doubles team of Derya Turhan and Anna Pomyatinskaya
"Derya and Anna played a very solid match from beginning to end to reach the semifinals. They are now just two matches away from qualifying for the national indoor championships in New York City. It's exciting to see them playing better each round."
On Maddie Silver's performance
"Maddie played one of the best matches I've seen her play at Marshall as she took out the No. 4 seed from Virginia Tech. It's great to see her continue to come around and rebound from her sophomore season."
On Stephanie Smith
Stephanie played a very solid match taking out the No. 1 player from Pitt before falling to the No. 1 overall seed, 6-2, 7-5, in a very closely contested second set She's been an awesome addition to our team. She always gives 100 percent effort and I'm sure fans in Huntington will enjoy watching her this spring."
On Derya Turhan
"Derya was once again a great competitor. She won both her matches and is now in the final eight. She competes hard every point and is someone that you have to beat because she's not going to beat herself."
