Bogicevic, Novackova Win on Final Day of Hokie Fall Invite

BLACKSBURG, Va. -- The Marshall women's tennis team finished play at the Hokie Fall Invite Sunday at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center on the campus of Virginia Tech. The Herd won a pair of singles matches on the final day.

Marija Bogicevic and Nikola Novackova each won a singles match for the Herd Sunday. Bogicevic and Novackova each won for the second consecutive day.

Play began Sunday with the final round of the doubles competition. Daniela Dankanych and Novackova fell in the third place consolation match of the Tech doubles flight to Melis Bayraktaroglu and Taylor Nederlander of George Washington, 8-3. Bogicevic and VCU's Gabriela Araujo lost in the seventh place match of the Hokies doubles flight to Sophie Lesage and Lucy Gloninger of Towson, 8-6.

Play concluded Sunday with the final round of the singles competition. Dankanych fell in the third place match of the orange singles flight in three sets to Magda Aubets of VCU, 7-6 (0), 4-6, 1-0 (10-6). Novackova won the fifth place consolation match of the grey singles flight against McKenzie Collins of Virginia Tech in three sets, 6-2, 2-6, 1-0 (10-6). Bogicevic defeated Claire Nguyen of Radford in the fifth place match of the black singles flight, 6-2, 6-4.
