@HerdMBB to Have First Road Test Against Ohio State

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Marshall men's basketball team will make its first road trip of the season to take on the Ohio State Buckeyes at the Jerome Schottenstein Center on Friday, Nov. 25, at 7 p.m. ET in Columbus, Ohio. It marks the first time the two teams have faced each other since the 1977-78 season. This game will be broadcasted by the Big Ten Network and on Big Ten Network platforms.

HAVE YOU HERD?
Marshall defeated the Jackson State Tigers, 71-61, on Monday, Nov. 21. It marked the first time that the Herd has started 4-0 since the 2011-12 season. The 71 points marked the first time that Marshall had not scored 80 points this season. Junior forward Terrence Thompson tied his career-high with 20 points and had nine rebounds and two steals to go with his night. Junior guard Jon Elmore had 20 points of his own and added six assists.

SCOUTING THE BUCKEYES
Ohio State has the most home wins nationally with a 127-16 (.887) record since the 2009-10 season. Thad Matta teams are 300-14 during his tenure at Ohio State when the Buckeyes own a lead with 5:00 to play in games. Ohio State also is 283-17 in 300 games in which Ohio State has built a lead of at least 10 points at any point during a game. Matta has teams have never failed to win 20 games, a record streak (12 seasons) in Ohio State history. Matta has never failed to reach the 20-win plateau in 16 years as a head coach. Matta has directed Ohio State to at least 10 wins during non-conference play in 11 of his 12 seasons at the helm of the Buckeyes. The Buckeyes are currently receiving votes to be ranked right now, but are ranked right outside of the top 30 in the nation.

WHO TO KNOW
Junior forward Jae'Sean Tate is one of 20 players nationally to earn a spot on the 2017 Julius Erving Small Forward of the Year Award preseason watch list. Tate had season-ending surgery on his left shoulder Feb. 26 of last year. He started 28 games as a sophomore and averaged 11.7 points and 6.4 rebounds. He recorded five double-doubles, 18 games with 10 or more points and six with doubledigit rebounds. Senior Marc Loving is on the brink of becoming the 53rd Buckeye all-time to reach 1,000 career points. Loving scored eight points vs. Providence to go with a game-high 10 rebounds.

SERIES HISTORY
Marshall will play Ohio State for the second time in series history and for the first time since the 1977-78 season. Ohio State won the contest, 81-65, and owns a 1-0 record all-time against the Herd.
