@HerdMBB to Face Old Southern Conference Foe Chattanooga

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Marshall men's basketball team will make its second road trip of December to take on the Chattanooga Mocs on Tuesday, Dec. 6, at 7 p.m. ET in Chattanooga, Tenn. It will revive the old Southern Conference series between the two sides.

HAVE YOU HERD?
Marshall suffered its second loss of the season when it fell to Eastern Kentucky, 89-80, on Saturday afternoon. Marshall has scored at least 70 points in each game this year. It is the first time the Herd has done so since the 1995-96 season under Billy Donovan. Ryan Taylor finished with 19 points, which pushed him past Hal Greer for No. 20 on Marshall's career scoring list. Taylor has 1,386 points during his four seasons. Green, who played from 1955 to 1958, finished his career with 1,377 points.

Ky're Allison scored a career-high 14 points, which surpassed his previous career-high of six at Ohio State (Nov. 25). Austin Loop has scored three three-pointers in three straight games. It is his first time to do so since Dec. 9-12, 2015.

SCOUTING THE MOCS
Last year was the 19th 20-win season and first back-to-back 20-win campaigns since 1993 (26-7) and 1994 (23-7). Last season, Chattanooga had a school-record 29 wins. Most by SoCon program since Davidson in 2007-08 (29-7). 51 wins over the previous two campaigns was most since 53 in 1981-82 (27) and 1982-83 (26). Coach Matt McCall is the fastest Mocs coach to 30 wins (36 games). Ron Shumate (1972-79) opened his career 30-11. Former Tar Heel Jeff Lebo (2002-04) and Mack McCarthy (1985-97) did it in 44. McCall's 30th win was the opener. Tennessee Chattanooga was picked to win the 2016-17 Southern Conference championship in preseason balloting conducted by the league's head coaches.Ranked No. 8 in CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25.

WHO TO KNOW
Tre' McLean was the preseason SoCon Player of the Year. He was also a 2016 All-SoCon First Team selection. He had a season-high 26 points, 9 rebounds and 3 steals at Coastal Carolina (Nov. 29).

Makinde London has 21 pts & 12 rebounds in the last two games (41 minutes). He is shooting 50.0% (8-16) FG & 50.0% (4-8) from three-pointers. Justin Tuoyo is a two-time SoCon Defensive Player of the Year. He has 29 blocks this season.

SERIES HISTORY
Marshall will meet former Southern Conference arch-rival Chattanooga. It will be the first contest between the two sides since the 2010-11 season. Before that, the two sides met for 20 straight years (1977-97) until Marshall left the Southern Conference.
