HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Marshall softball begins a six game homestand as the Ohio, Radford and Saint Francis come to Dot Hicks Field. The Herd will play a doubleheader against each team.

Marshall (16-10, 5-1) is coming off of its second Conference USA series at North Texas against the Mean Green. The Herd won the series getting the victory in game one, 4-1, then grabbing the rubber match in game three Sunday, 9-5. Marshall finished the weekend with 34 total hits including 17 in the final game. 15 of the Herd's 17 hits in the Sunday win came from the fourth through the seventh inning. Senior Kaelynn Greene (Eastvale, Calif.) had a big weekend going 9-for-12 at the plate. Greene was 4-for-4 in games one and three and was even intentionally walked once in Sunday's win.

Sophomore Taylor McCord (Gilbert, Ariz.) drove in four runs throughout the weekend as did freshman Briana Daiss (Clermont, Fla.) Daiss leads the team 35 RBI and belted her seventh home run of the year in game three. Sophomore Jordan Colliflower (Huntington, W.Va.) was 4-for-4 in the win Sunday and drove in the Herd's only run in the game two loss from Saturday.

Marshall currently leads the nation in stolen bases per game with 3.38. Greene also leads the country in stolen bases per game with 1.15.

The Ohio Bobcats (16-7) are up first Tuesday March 22 with first pitch set for 2 p.m. The series with the Bobcats is the longest in Marshall history. The two teams have met 53 times since 1994. Marshall leads the series 34-19. The Herd lost the first ever match with Ohio 5-1 back on March 5, 1994 at the EKU Tournament hosted by Eastern Kentucky. No games were played between the two area rivals in 1995, but since 1996 Ohio and Marshall have met every year. Even once the Herd left the Mid-American Conference. Marshall has won 16 of 19 contests since leaving the MAC after the 2005 season. The Herd has won the past two.

The previous meeting was an 18-3 Herd win March 19, 2015 that featured three Marshall home runs including a grand slam by, then junior, Alyssa Woodrum (West Hamlin, W.Va.) The Herd scored nine runs in the third inning to help put Ohio away.

The Radford Highlanders (16-7) will then visit Dot Hicks Field Wednesday March 23. Marshall and Radford have only met 12 times before with the Herd leading the series 11-1. These two programs first met April 6, 1995 in a double header in Huntington, W.Va. Marshall won both games in shutouts, 8-0 and 3-0. The only loss Marshall has suffered to Radford came April 22, 2003 in game two of a doubleheader, 2-1. In 2013, the Herd made the trip to Radford for a single game that Marshall finally won 5-1 in eight innings. It was the first win in what became a 14-game winning streak. The longest in program history. The last time Marshall played Radford was a doubleheader at the Dot April 2, 2014. The Herd took both games that day 4-0 and 7-3.

The Saint Francis Red Flash (15-12) will come to Huntington Tuesday March 29 and has the shortest history with the Herd out of the three opponents. Marshall and SFU have only met three times over Marshall's history. The Herd has won all three. The first matchup came March 25, 1994 at the Winthrop Invitational in Rock Hill, S.C. Marshall won the game 9-4. The Herd next played the Red Flash March 23, 1996 again at the Winthrop Invitational with Marshall winning 8-1. The last times these two teams got together was March 20, 2004 at the Virginia Tech Tournament in Blacksburg, Va. Marshall won in a slugfest 8-7. The Herd recorded 11 hits including home runs by Allison Webb (2001-04) and Courtney Kacenga (2003-06).
