HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Marshall women's tennis begins a three-match homestand this week as it takes on Cincinnati on Friday and Xavier on Sunday. Both matches are scheduled to start at 1 p.m.

The Herd enters the matches at 8-9 overall. Marshall had its four-match winning streak snapped last Sunday on the road as it dropped a 6-1 decision to Winthrop. Derya Turhan won the lone singles match for the Herd and the team of Maddie Silver and Rachael Morales won a doubles match for Marshall.

Turhan leads the Herd with an 11-3 singles record with all wins coming from the top spot. Rachael Morales has a 9-5 record with eight of her nine wins coming from the No. 2 spot.

Cincinnati comes into Friday's match with a 9-7 record. The Bearcats dropped a 5-0 decision against Xavier on Wednesday, managing to win just one doubles match. Cincinnati is led by Ali Miller with an 11-3 record in dual matches. Eight of Miller's 11 wins have come from the top spot. The duo of Miller and Lauren Bellinger have combined to post an 8-1 record from the top doubles spot.

Xavier enters Sunday's match with a 14-4 record. The Musketeers are currently on an eight-match winning streak dating back to February 19 and will host DePaul Saturday before traveling to Huntington. Xavier is led by reigning Big East Conference Player of the Week Sydney Liggins, who has not lost since February 19.

Marshall's match against the Bearcats will take place at the Huntington Tennis Club, while Xavier will be tried to play on the outdoor courts on the Marshall University campus, if weather permits.
