@HerdWBB Announces 2016-17 Schedule

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Conference USA office released the membership's 2016-17 league schedules Wednesday afternoon and the Marshall women's basketball included it with this season's non-conference slate.
Headlining its out-of-conference play are trips to Illinois, Penn State and North Carolina, while the program has six non-conference home games in the Cam Henderson Center. The Nittany Lions will return the game in Huntington in 2017-18.
The Thundering Herd will face Old Dominion, Charlotte, Middle Tennessee, UAB and WKU twice this season and will host FIU, Florida Atlantic, Southern Miss and Louisiana Tech. The team will travel to UTSA, UTEP, Rice and North Texas.
"We're looking forward to taking the next step with our program," said coach Matt Daniel. "I think this non-conference schedule, including some of women's basketball's most storied programs, will help us learn, grow, and prepare for our tough conference season. Having been 80 minutes from the NCAA Tournament last year, we are eager to continue building our program."
Marshall is coming off a successful 2015-16 campaign that saw it amass 21 victories, the most single-season wins for the program in nearly 30 years. Its WNIT game at Ohio was its first and just the third overall postseason appearance in women's basketball's NCAA era (1981-82).
