HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Marshall women's soccer team is back at The Vet to begin Conference USA play against the WKU Hilltoppers Thursday, Sept. 15 at 7 p.m.

HAVE YOU HERD?
Marshall is 2-2-2 this season after playing the Ohio Bobcats to 2-2 tie. The Herd dropped its first two games at Purdue and Michigan, but since are 2-0-2 with wins over Longwood and East Tennessee State. Marshall also finished at a 2-2 draw with IUPUI. This will be just the third home game this season for Marshall.

Senior Sydney Arnold and freshman Jordan Sackaris have combined to score seven of the Herd's 10 goals in 2016. Sackaris scored a goal in each of the first three games of the season and again in the 3-0 win over ETSU. Arnold has a goal in each of the past three matches. Junior Emily Moreland has played the majority of the year in goal for the Herd logging 541 minutes and 55 seconds out of a possible 580 minutes. Moreland has allowed nine goals and has 20 saves.

SCOUTING THE HILLTOPPERS
WKU is 4-3 this season, with three wins out of the past four games. The Hilltoppers have been at home for the last four games after spending the first three on the road. WKU has wins against UT Martin, Austin Peay, Georgia State and Morehead State. The Hilltopper losses have been to Memphis, Miami (OH) and LSU.

Nine different players have scored a goal this season for WKU. The team is led by freshman Chandler Backes with seven goals. Backes has two, two-goal games this season against UT Martin and Georgia State. Three players have spent time in goal for the Hilltoppers with junior Leone Allison leading the way with 547 minutes and a 4-2 record.

SERIES HISTORY
Thursday will be the fourth ever meeting between Marshall and WKU. The Hilltoppers lead the series with a 2-1 record. The first time these schools met was in 2009 at the University of Kentucky Tournament where the Herd also played against Tennessee Tech. WKU won the first matchup 4-1. Marshall has matched up with WKU in each of the past two seasons once the Hilltoppers joined C-USA. The Herd won the most recent contest 2-0 in 2015 in Bowling Green, Ky. Ashley Seltzer and Sydney Arnold scored the Herd's goals in the shutout victory.

GAME PROMOTIONS
During the game, the Marshall players will be wearing yellow Go4TheGoal shoelaces. Proceeds from the purchase of those laces will go to local pediatric cancer centers. Donations and more info about the organization can be found at http://www.go4thegoal.org/.

UP NEXT
Marshall will hit the road for a Sunday afternoon non-conference match at William & Mary in Williamsburg, Va. That contest is scheduled for a 2 p.m. kickoff.
