Women's Golf Finishes in Ninth at Lady Pirate Intercollegiate

GREENVILLE, N.C. - The Marshall women's golf team finished ninth out of 18 teams at the Lady Pirate Intercollegiate Tuesday afternoon at the Greenville Country Club.
Marshall finished round three with 11 birdies to help hold the position. Redshirt sophomore Sarfina Seretharan had four birdies and finished tied for 11th leading the Herd. She shot a 1-over 73 for the second straight round. Junior Leigha Holt improved by five strokes from the second round to the third.
ON THE LEADERBOARD
The host school, East Carolina, ran away with the team title as it finished at 16-over for the event. Elon was the runner-up and finished 28 strokes back from ECU. Anna Magnusson of Morehead State won a close race for the individual top finisher. Magnusson shot a 2-under 70 in round three to stay one shot ahead Danielle Fuss of High Point. Lisa Pettersson of ECU shot a third round best 5-under 67 to land in third.

Interim Head Coach Brooke Bellomy:
"Proud of the way the girls played. We know what we need to work on before we leave Saturday for Greensboro. We finished 50 shots better this year in this tournament compared to last year. The girls are building confidence and not giving up so I'm proud of them."

UP NEXT
Marshall will head back to the state of North Carolina to compete in the Starmount Fall Classic in Greensboro. The two-day event will take begin Monday, Oct. 3.
