HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Marshall swimming and diving opens its spring schedule on Saturday, when the Thundering Herd takes on James Madison University and VMI in Harrisonburg, Va. The Herd and JMU will have a dual meet on Friday at 5 p.m., while a tri-meet will take place on Saturday at 10 a.m.
HAVE YOU HERD?
Marshall claimed two weekly Conference USA honors the last time it competed. Chloe Parsemain won Swimmer of the Week, while Megan Wolons earned the Diver of the Week. Parsemain won the 100 fly and helped the Herd win the 200 medley relay and 200 free relay. Wolons qualified for the NCAA Zone Diving Championship on the 1-meter board with a first place score of 276.52. She also placed first in the 3-meter with a score of 279.75.
Freshman Sirena Rowe has been impressive for the Thundering Herd this season, as she ranks in the top 4 in four different swimming events in C-USA. The Charlotte, N.C., native ranks second in the 50 free (22.60) and 50 back (25.57). She is third in the 100 free (50.30) and fourth in the 100 back (54.92).
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
James Madison enters this weekend's meet with an impressive 7-0 record in dual action this season. The Dukes have wins over Liberty, Northeastern, New Hampshire, William & Mary, East Carolina, UNC Wilmington and Richmond.
VMI holds a 2-5 record in dual action this season with wins over Ferrum and Sweet Briar. Last time out, Morgan Davis set a school record in the 400 IM with a time of 5:00.32. Davis also holds the school record for the 200 fly with a time of 2:23.66.
