BOCA RATON, Fla. - Florida Atlantic's Abby Reid (.471) and Sydney Nemtuda (.469) paced the Owls in hitting percentage as the home team swept visiting Marshall 3-0 (25-15, 25-20, 25-23) Sunday afternoon in FAU Arena.
As a team, the Owls hit .306 to Marshall's .180.
Nemtuda posted 18 kills and Reid added 10. Alex Cardona (14) and Ivone Martinez (11) combined for 25 digs. Martinez added 43 assists.
Marshall was led by Jac'cara Walker's nine kills and Addisyn Rowe, who also accounted for 9.5 points via seven kills and 2.5 blocks. Madelyn Cole had 29 assists and Jessa Long contributed 14 digs.
"Give credit to FAU," said Marshall coach Mitch Jacobs. "They are playing very well and, today, seemed to be ahead of us the whole way. I need to do a better job of preparing our team."
The Thundering Herd will be back home next Friday (North Texas, 6 p.m.) and Sunday (Charlotte, 1 p.m.) in the Cam Henderson Center.
