CLEVELAND, Ohio-Marshall Swimming and Diving completed day one of its meet against Cleveland State and Green Bay Friday night.

The Thundering Herd trails both Cleveland State and Green Bay after the first of two days of competition. Cleveland State leads the Herd 118-84 and Green Bay leads 110-94.

Marshall won three of the nine events contested Friday. Sophomore Angelica di Marzio won the 1650 Freestyle in a season best time of 17:14.48, which now ranks best in Conference USA.

Fellow sophomore Jordyn O'Dell won the 100 Backstroke in a personal season best time of 57.59. Senior Emma Lockyer was the third winner of the night for the Herd in the 200 IM with a time of 2:06.77.

The Herd had two second place finishes on the night, one of which came in the 200 Freestyle Relay with a time of 1:36.72. Junior Caroline Wanner finished second in the 200 IM with a time of 2:07.02.

"It was an imperfect day all around but we swam very well today," said Marshall head coach Bill Tramel. "Of all of our swims, only three were not season bests, and those were missed by only a tenth of a second or two. We talk about being better than last time out with each future opportunity. We accomplished that goal today."

"Make no mistake. We were beaten today by two good teams. But it's halftime. This will be a great challenge and will really test us."

Day two begins Saturday at noon at Cleveland State. #IAmBecauseWeAre
