Herd Completes Meet against Cleveland State and Green Bay

CLEVELAND, Ohio-Marshall Swimming and Diving completed a two day meet Saturday against Cleveland State and Green Bay.
The Herd won three of the eight swimming events held Saturday but it wasn't enough to overcome the first day deficit. Marshall dropped close decisions to Cleveland State 184-166 and Green Bay 178-175.
The Herd had solid performances throughout the day. Coming off of a win Friday night in the 200 IM, senior Emma Lockyer was a double winner in the 400 IM and 200 Breaststroke on Saturday.
Junior Caroline Wanner won the 200 Backstroke in Marshall's third win of the day. All three winning swims were season beats.
The Herd also had second place finishes from freshman Cara Martin in the 400 IM and sophomore Angelica di Marzio in the 500 Freestyle.
"This was a challenging weekend in and out of the pool," head coach Bill Tramel said. "While we are happy with almost 100 percent of our performances, we are still working to improve many of the details that we have been struggling with all season. We certainly don't like losing, even though we ran into two very good and very well coached teams. But we had some real breakout swims. The best being Emma's (Lockyer) 200 Breast. That was her career best unshaved."
"We have one last hard segment of training before our mid-season Invite. That will be a good gauge to where we are with our season."
