@Herd_Tennis Drops Thriller to College of Charleston

CHARLESTON, S.C. - The Marshall women's tennis team lost for the first time during its current five-match road trip Tuesday afternoon, dropping a 4-3 decision to the College of Charleston Cougars at the CofC Tennis Center at Patriots Point.
For the second consecutive match, the Herd was unable to pick up the doubles point. Derya Turhan and Stephanie Smith fell to Liza Fieldsend and Rachel McNeely, 6-1. Rachael Morales and Daniela Dankanych lost to Christi Woodson and Sarah Jane Jones, 6-3. Maddie Silver and Anna Pomyatinskaya were trailing to Mara Argyriou and Anastasia Palaska, 4-3, but the match went unfinished.
The Herd won three of the six singles matches. Turhan opened singles play with her fifth consecutive win, defeating Fieldsend in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2. Morales defeated Palaska in straight sets, 7-6 (5), 6-0. Pomyatinskaya fell to McNeely, 6-4, 6-4. Dankanych won the first set of her match against Turner Yates but fell in three sets, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4. Smith defeated Woodson in three sets, 6-1, 4-6, 6-2. Silver won the first set of her match against Argyriou but fell in the deciding match, 5-7, 6-3, 6-4.
