KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – The Marshall women's golf team closed out its fall campaign for the 2018-19 season in the final round of the Palmetto Intercollegiate, Tuesday afternoon.
The Herd ended the three-day event at the Turtle Point Golf Course tied for 12th out of 18 teams. Sophomore Kerri Parks led the way on Tuesday with a 4-under 68. Parks recorded seven birdies in the third round alone.
"We had some great things happen this fall season," Herd head coach Brooke Burkhammer said. "Many under par rounds and best some really good teams. We all have a few things to work on this offseason to make sure Marshall women's golf has an unbelievable spring season. These ladies have all the talent in the world to do well every time we tee it up.
"Shelby (Brauckmuller) had an incredible fall and I'm excited to see her improve and come back even stronger for the spring, plus her senior year. Kerri continues to post that low score that helps us to be successful as well. I'm proud of these ladies and how they represent Marshall."
For Parks, it was her second round in the 60s this season and was also an 11-stoke improvement from the second round. Her 68 was the second lowest score of the final round behind a 5-under 67 by Emily Hawkins of Campbell. Junior Shelby Brauckmuller recorded five birdies in the final round and finished with a 3-over 75.
No. 35 College of Charleston grabbed the team title with a total team score of 6-under 858. 34th ranked Campbell came in second place at 11 shots back. A trio of players tied at the top of the leaderboard. Clarissa Von Stosch, who led the whole tournament, and Victoria Huskey of College of Charleston were joined by Hawkins for first place. They each scored a 4-under 212.
