OXFORD, Ohio – Marshall's Swimming and Diving team dropped a competition on the road to Miami (Ohio) Saturday morning. The meet featured a total of 16 events, including two diving events. The RedHawks won with a total score of 228 points.
Marshall's relay teams continued to compete. The Herd claimed a win in the opening event, the 200 Medley Relay, with a time of 1:46.44.
Individually, Catherine Bendziewicz picked up the victory in the 100 Breaststroke in a time of 1:05.46. Darby Coles also posted impressive performances in the 100 (2nd, 53.79 seconds) and 200 Freestyle (3rd, 1:55.72) events.
"We had a lot of tough racing today against an impressive Miami program." head coach Ian Walsh said. "It was fun to get our hands on the wall to kick off the meet with the 200 Medley Relay. Catherine getting her hand on the wall in the 100 Breast and Darby battling through some close races was a lot of fun to watch."
"The women did a great job of controlling the controllable. We challenged ourselves, as a group, to bring energy to the deck and create our own atmosphere on the road. There were a lot of positives we accomplished this weekend and identified things that we can improve as we move forward. As a team, our focus is not where we are not, but where we want to be, come February.".
The Herd will prepare to host Liberty University at the Frederick A. Fitch Natatorium on Nov. 9 and Nov. 10.
