Seltzer Honored as Conference USA All-Academic Team Selection

Senior defender is a three-time Commissioner’s Honor Roll member
NORFOLK, Va. – Marshall women's soccer senior defender Ashley Seltzer added another honor as she was named to the Conference USA All-Academic second team, the league office announced Thursday.
It is the first all-academic team selection for Seltzer, who is a three-time member of the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll. She was also named third team all-conference on Tuesday.
"In Ashley's senior year, it is fitting that she is acknowledged for her play on the field, and her academic achievement in the classroom," Herd head coach Kevin Long said. "She attacks all angles of being a student-athlete with first, the attention it deserves, and then follows through at the right intensity in all she does. That is what has made her successful for us here, and will surely drive her success moving forward."
Seltzer will graduate in December with a degree in marketing and sports a 3.63 grade point average while also starring on the field. The Knoxville, Tenn., native was moved to defense this season and responded with strong play on the back line. Seltzer never came off the pitch in 2018, playing all 1,600 possible minutes. She was selected to take the two penalty kicks that the Herd was granted during the season, and was successful on both.
The senior finishes her Marshall career with eight goals, nine assists and 5,796 minutes played.
