Toledo, Ohio native headed to Huntington
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Megan Siford has been named Marshall's University's Diving Coach, Thundering Herd Swimming and Diving Coach Ian Walsh announced Thursday.
Siford comes to Huntington after serving in the same capacity at Tiffin University.
A native of Toledo, Ohio, Siford graduated from Youngstown State University in 2017, where she competed all four years on the boards as she pursued a double major in Geography and Telecommunications.
"I'm so honored for this opportunity to be at Marshall and excited to see what the team does this year and in the future," Siford said. "I'm glad to be here and part of this great community and, of course, the Thundering Herd."
Siford brings a wealth of knowledge as a student-athlete as well as a collegiate coach. Her experiences include coaching at Ripfest (the world's premier diving camp) as a coach and counselor and working alongside Olympic coaches and athletes from across the globe. She made a significant impact during her short time at Tiffin by leading one of her student athletes, Jordan Wright, to Division II nationals.
"I am thrilled to have Megan join our staff here at Marshall University," said Walsh. "What stood out to me throughout this process was her passion for working with student-athletes, specifically young women, and having an intimate understanding of what it takes to perform at a high level."
"She had the unique experience to take over as Interim Head Swimming & Diving Coach at Tiffin University. Megan has gotten to see, firsthand, what leading a program looks like and what that entails. This will serve her well as she transitions into her new role here. At Marshall, we want people that inspire our staff and women every day. I'm confident Megan will enhance that atmosphere and we're excited to have her part of our program."
The Thundering Herd will be back in action this weekend at the Zippy Invitational at Akron.
