Roberts Named Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week

Three goals, including a game-winner, and two assists for the sophomore
IRVING, Texas – Marshall men's soccer sophomore Jamil Roberts was named Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday.
Roberts had a career week for the Herd over the last two matches. He scored three goals, had two assists, and scored the game-winner in double overtime that guaranteed Marshall a spot in the in C-USA Championship Tournament.
"Jamil had an excellent week," Herd head coach Chris Grassie said. "He's had some ups and downs this season, but when he's in the right mind frame, which is a positive one, he can be an exciting player to watch. He always works hard and runs for the team, so it's nice to see him on the end of passes this week."
In the match at South Carolina on Tuesday, Roberts found freshman Vinicius Fernandes for a goal in the 14th minute that tied the match at 1-1. The Langport, England, native then found the back of the net on the golden goal in the 107th minute to give Marshall the 2-1 win.
However, Roberts was not finished as he remained on the attack in the regular season finale against Florida Atlantic on Senior Night. The sophomore forward scored the equalizer in the seventh minute and then found freshman Gianni Bouzoukis in the 29th minute for a goal to give the Herd the lead. Roberts capped off his week with his second goal of the match, third of the week and fifth of the season in the 83rd minute.
Roberts finished the week with 11 total shots, five on goal, and of course scoring on three of those five chances.
Marshall returns to action in the first round of the Conference USA Championship Tournament on Wednesday, Nov. 7 at 2 p.m., in Charlotte. The Herd is the No. 5 seed and will take on the No. 4 seed FIU Panthers.
