The Series
The Thundering Herd and the Bobcats have met 56 times with the first contest on March 5, 1994, the first season of Marshall's program and the 21st for Ohio. The Bobcats won that first game, 5-1, at the EKU Tournament in Richmond, Ky. Since then the two teams have met every season since 1996. Marshall is 36-20 overall against Ohio, including an 18-4 record since moving out of the Mid-American Conference after the 2005 season.

Marshall scored its single-game record for runs with an 18-3 win at Dot Hicks Field on March 19, 2015. Former Herd pitcher Jordan Dixon threw her first career no-hitter versus the Bobcats on March 22, 2016 at Dot Hicks Field in a six-inning, 8-0 victory. Ohio took the next game in the doubleheader that day, 7-0.

Marshall defeated the Bobcats in the most recent contest, April 18, 2017, with a 3-2 win at home. Morgan Zerkle and Taylor McCord combined to record five of the Herd's seven hits. McCord finished the day 2-for-2 with a double and her first career triple while driving in two runs. Dixon pitched the complete-game win allowing just three hits and striking out six.

Scouting Ohio
The Bobcats enter the game 28-14 overall and 15-2 in the MAC. The only conference losses have come against Northern Illinois and Miami (OH).
