ATHENS, Ohio - The Marshall softball team struggled in its 57th all-time meeting with the Ohio Bobcats as the Herd fell 10-2 in six innings Wednesday afternoon. In the loss, senior Elicia D'Orazio set the Marshall program and Conference USA record for stolen bases in a career passing Morgan Zerkle. D'Orazio stole two bases in the first inning and now has 164 career swipes.

The Thundering Herd is now 23-25-1 overall. Ohio improves to 29-15.

D'Orazio drew a leadoff walk in the first and then stole second to break the old mark of 162. The speedy senior then stole third, her 43rd career game with two or more stolen bases. D'Orazio later scored when fellow senior Taylor McCord hit a sacrifice fly to right-center.

The Bobcats responded with five runs in the bottom of the first. Junior Ali Burdette got the start in the circle and pitched through the first inning. Sophomore Kailee Williamson came out for the second inning and pitched into the fourth when Ohio scored two more runs. Junior Abigail Tolbert pitched the final 2.1 innings and allowed three runs in the sixth.

Marshall received one more run on a monster home run to right-center by freshman Aly Harrell. The solo shot was Harrell's 10th of the season, tying a freshman program record set by Jazmine Valle in 2010 and tied by current junior Briana Daiss in 2016. Harrell also recorded her first career stolen base in the first inning.

Marshall returns to the field Saturday, April 28, with a doubleheader at Pittsburgh. The twinbill with the Panthers is set to begin at 4 p.m.
