Tennis Continues Fall Season at Hokie Fall Invite

Three-day tournament at Virginia Tech to conclude Sunday
BLACKSBURG, Va. — Marshall tennis hits the road for the second time this season when it plays in the Hokie Fall Invite. Virginia Tech is the host institution for the three-day tournament, which concludes Sunday.

In addition to the Hokies, the Thundering Herd will be joined by Appalachian State, Bluefield State (Division II), Delaware, Georgia Southern, Iowa State, James Madison, Liberty, Penn State, Radford, VCU and West Virginia.

The Herd has already competed against two teams in the field when it took part in the Liberty Invitational with Liberty and James Madison. Marshall will also play against James Madison, Liberty, Penn State, VCU, Virginia Tech and West Virginia in the spring season.

Marshall concluded play at last week's Liberty Invitational by sweeping its four singles matches on the second day. Madi Ballow, Liz Stefancic and Victoria Walter each recorded their first career collegiate wins at the tournament, while Anna Smith continued her form from last season. Ballow and Walter also teamed up to win the Herd's first doubles match of the season on day two. Ballow and Smith each won a singles match on the opening day of the tournament for Marshall.

The Hokie Fall Invite consists of multiple singles and doubles brackets in an effort to minimize the chances of players from the same school being drawn against each other. First round action begins Friday at 9 a.m.
