HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University swimming and diving team will recognize six seniors this weekend.
The Thundering Herd was scheduled to swim at the Fredrick A. Fitch Nataorium on Saturday at 10 a.m., but the scheduled meet against visiting Cleveland State was canceled because of the threat of inclement weather. Marshall will now host an intrasquad scrimmage Saturday morning and honor the seniors before the event, which is scheduled to begin at 9:45 a.m.
The swimming and diving team's seniors include Oda Gjerde, Justine Jagga, Maddie Schaffer, Maggie Stovall, Caroline Wanner and Brittany Wilkerson.
The team's six seniors will also be recognized during the pre-game festivities of the Marshall men's basketball game, which is scheduled to tip-off at 7 p.m. The Herd hoops team hosts Florida International.
"We were looking to send our seniors out on a high note with our final meet with Cleveland St. but as we know, weather is something we can't control," Marshall coach Ian Walsh said. "I am thrilled we are able to recognize our seniors prior to the basketball game on Saturday. This group has worked extremely hard to help set the tone for what is going to be a very bright future for Marshall swimming and diving. We appreciate the community support to make to take our program where it needs to go."
