Men’s Basketball Ends Three-Game Road Trip at Southern Mississippi

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Marshall men's basketball closes out a three-game road trip in a road match up against Southern Mississippi Saturday afternoon in Hattiesburg.

Jon Elmore needs one assist and one made three-pointer to become the all-time leader in program history in each category.
C.J. Burks recorded his first double-double, 29 points and 12 rebounds, in the loss at Louisiana Tech.
Taveion Kinsey has had 10 or more points in five of the last seven games.
Jarrod West saw a three-game streak of five steals come to an end in the loss at Louisiana Tech (Jan. 24).
Marshall had three players score 10 or more points to go with three players with at least eight rebounds at Louisiana Tech. Jannson Williams and Burks did both.
The Herd is on a two-game losing streak for the first time since Dec. 31 after losses at Texas A&M and Virginia.
SCOUTING THE GOLDEN EAGLES
Southern Mississippi comes into the game with an 11-9 record, including 3-5 in conference play.
The Golden Eagles dropped their contest Thursday night, 63-60, to Western Kentucky. It was their first home loss since Nov. 22.
Southern Miss averages 70.4 points per game and owns a positive scoring margin of 5.9 points.
The Golden Eagles shoot 44.3 percent from the field and 36.4 percent from beyond the arc.
Southern Miss averages over seven steals per game.
WHO TO KNOW
Cortez Edwards leads the Golden Eagles with 13.3 points per game. Edwards is also second on the team in rebounds 125), assists (62) and steals (38).
Tyree Griffin leads Southern Miss with 6.6 assists per game to go with an average of 12.5 points, good for second on the squad. Griffin also has a team-leading 43 steals.
